In order to produce Basil Hayden Rye the distillery uses their barreling technique which entails aging their traditional rye for four years then transferring it to newly charred cask barrels for an additional seven years. With a total of 11years to mature this batch allows more air to breathe into the cask and create deeper flavors. This batch is then blended into the standard rye whiskey to elevate its natural spicy notes.
